Eileen Loomis

Title: Compliance Auditor

How long have you been working at EcoEngineers? Since July 2019

What service area do you work? I work on the Audit Team

Where are you from? Duluth, Minnesota, originally, but have claimed Iowa as home for most of my adult life

What degrees or certifications do you have? I have degrees in finance and accounting, and I am an accredited California LCFS Lead Verifier and Oregon CFP Verifier.

Why do you do what you do? Most people think of auditors as people who look for what was done wrong. I have been an auditor for over 30 years, and I have never thought of auditing in that light. I have always viewed auditing as a way to help people to do what is right, and that is why I enjoy what I do.

What does a Clean Energy Economy mean to you? A Clean Energy Economy is one in which everyone takes responsibility for their actions, where they are consciously aware of their impact on the world around them, and they are proactive in taking steps to leave this world in better shape than how they found it.

What question does a client typically ask about your job before you begin? People in general ask, “What do you do?” and I usually respond that I am an auditor for a consulting company that works with renewable fuel producers, and that I concentrate mostly on working with ethanol producers. Clients usually have a better idea of what we do, so I explain that I am available to help them with their quarterly audits, engineering reviews and of course, SharePoint questions!

What is the biggest problem you solve? How would you describe it and your approach to fixing it? Trying to raise 2 teenagers – haven’t quite got that one figured out yet.

How would you describe your biggest win? My biggest win would be going back to college at the age of 40 and graduating with honors and a double major.

What do you do you for fun outside of work and why do you enjoy it? I enjoy reading, listening to music and audiobooks and snuggling with my 3 dogs (a retired racing Greyhound and 2 Italian greyhounds) to relax at the end of a long day.
