Title: Senior Regulatory Consultant

How long have you been working at EcoEngineers? Since 2019

What service area do you work? Although I am the コンプライアンス管理 Team Lead, I also dabble in EcoUniversity, 規制エンゲージメント, ライフサイクルアセスメント, 資産開発コンサルティング, 監査サービス.

Where are you from? Yorkshire, U.K.

What degrees or certifications do you have? B.A in Geology, Ph.D. in Geophysics, LCFS Lead Verifier

Why do you do what you do? It is satisfying to work in a field that you are passionate about. Climate change mitigation is interesting both from a scientific angle, satisfying my nerdy instincts, and from a logical regulatory point of view. I regard myself as a scientist, but I also enjoy regulation and feel I can help companies make strategic decisions.

What does a Clean Energy Economy mean to you? The pursuit of a sustainable economy.

What question do your friends or family typically ask about your job? If I had to describe it I would say that I help people figure out how they can both save the planet by mitigating GHG emissions, and at the same time, make money from the emerging carbon markets.

What question does a client typically ask about your job before you begin? Clients come in with lots of different questions, and since I work across the whole range of offerings at Eco the range of questions is broad. My favorite questions are those based on exciting new technology, ones that have a new angle as to how to push the boundaries of sustainability. Those inspire me to be creative, and use my skill set to make their projects successful.

What is the biggest problem you solve? How would you describe it and your approach to fixing it? I think educating clients in the path they have to take to make money. The process is complicated, and requires a broad set of tools. Often it starts with education, if the client is new to the ideas. We can empower individuals to make their own strategic decisions, and provide the services they require.

How would you describe your biggest win? Successfully taking over the line of business from Andrew, who has big shoes to fill.

What do you do you for fun outside of work and why do you enjoy it? Cooking, landscaping, gardening, playing board games with my kids, reading, often about climate change policy, but also fun Sci Fi. Did I say cooking?
