Regulatory Engagement Expertise and Public Policy Advocacy are Imperative to our Growth

 

EcoEngineers is further strengthening our presence in California again with our recent hire of John Larrea, a Sacramento-based consultant with more than 30 years of judicial, legislative, and regulatory experience on the West Coast.

California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) is leading the way in decarbonization policy. The LCFS continues to set the standard for both the country and the world for low-carbon legislation, and EcoEngineers is a leader in both the consulting and auditing sides of the regulation. Mr. Larrea’s regulatory engagement expertise and public policy advocacy is a significant asset to the company. He is responsible for staying current on key local, state, national, and international legislative, regulatory, and policy developments.

As the former Director of Government Affairs for the California League of Food Producers, Mr. Larrea oversaw the League’s regulatory and legislative efforts at the Legislature, the Governor’s Office, and at public agencies such as the California Air Resources Board, the California Energy Commission, and the California Public Utilities Commission, and the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution District. He has advocated and defended industrial food processors on issues related to energy, climate change, air quality, regulatory compliance, transportation, renewable fuels, goods movement, and air district permitting. He has also overseen legislative efforts in U.S. western region that boost the regions electricity and natural gas markets.

Mr. Larrea holds a B.A. in English literature/journalism from Oregon State University and a Juris Doctor degree from the Lincoln School of Law. He has been a member of the California Bar since 1989. Mr. Larrea can be contacted at jlarrea@ecoengineers.com.
