EcoForums Training Series: California Low Carbon Fuel Standard
As part of our EcoUniversity training program, we are proud to launch a new EcoForums Training Series designed to help professionals build critical skills and regulatory literacy in the fast-moving world of clean fuels. The series covers the two largest renewable fuels programs in the U.S.: the California Low Carbon Fuel Standard and the federal Renewable Fuel Standard. The final installment dives into life-cycle analysis basics, plus a primer on the Argonne National Laboratory’s GREET model and California’s CA-GREET 4.0 model.
This session introduces the fundamentals of California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (CA-LCFS) and builds toward practical compliance strategies and market insights. Attendees will learn how the regulation works, who must comply, how credits are generated, and what drives credit pricing and market trends.
You will learn:
• CA-LCFS program background and policy goals
• Carbon intensity (CI) scoring and how it influences compliance
• Fuel pathway basics and reporting requirements
• Credit generation, deficits, and lifecycle performance
• Market activity, credit price influence factors, and current trends
• How producers strategically position themselves in the CA-LCFS marketplace
