Details

Date:
Tuesday, Apr 14
Time:
12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

As part of our EcoUniversity training program, we are proud to launch a new EcoForums Training Series designed to help professionals build critical skills and regulatory literacy in the fast-moving world of clean fuels. The series covers the two largest renewable fuels programs in the U.S.: the California Low Carbon Fuel Standard and the federal Renewable Fuel Standard. The final installment dives into life-cycle analysis basics, plus a primer on the Argonne National Laboratory’s GREET model and California’s CA-GREET 4.0 model.

This course delivers a comprehensive overview of the federal RFS program, starting with the basics of the program’s energy credits (Renewable Identification Numbers or RINs) and fuel categories before diving into compliance mechanisms and RIN market behavior.

You will learn:
• RFS policy history and structure
• Renewable fuel categories and what qualifies
• RIN generation, trading, and retirement
• Obligated parties and annual compliance requirements
• Differences between D3, D4, D5, D6 RINs
• Market analysis: price drivers, supply considerations, and cross-program interactions
