The European Union (EU) is an attractive destination for companies operating in the biomethane value chain. As part of its RePowerEU strategy, the European Commission set an EU-wide biomethane production target of 35 billion cubic meters (bcm) by 2030. While the goal is still far away, in 2022, the EU produced just 3.4 bcm. However, the progress in the last few years has been substantial. Biomethane production grows by 18% (approximately 0.8 bcm) on an annual basis and is projected to grow further due to several EU and national initiatives.
In this webinar, EcoEngineers presents these initiatives to highlight potential growth pathways for the industry, and discusses variable biomethane markets regarding compliance, disclosure, and voluntary markets, certification principles and schemes, traceability of biomethane trades and chain of custody, including new rules of the Union Database (UDB), and provides insight into the current conditions of biomethane imports and its derivatives.
This webinar originally aired on August 14, 2024.
